About a year or so ago, my good friend Rubin J. Kaplan (Joe) wrote a WordPress Photo Album Plugin. It was nice but wasn’t easy for people to use.
However, in recent weeks after he helped me with SRG Clean Archives he got the bug to fix up his plugin.
Basically he broke it apart and completely rewrote it, so now it’s a self contained solution to add a WordPress photo gallery to your site.
WPPA (WP Photo Album) is a simple to use and fully customizable plugin for managing photo albums within a WordPress powered site or blog.
I helped him with Beta testing, bug testing and fine tuning features for the first 1.0 release. I even added a little SEO goodness to the default theme for it.
Speaking of theming, you can customize the default theme to work with your current site’s look and feel. You can see it in action now on my photo gallery page.
Joe plans on doing a lot more with future releases and don’t worry, I am hot on his tail with a list of things that need to be added into the new future releases.
Yeah, I’m good like that. I can drive Joe crazy at times but at the end of the day, we really help each other out when it comes to things WordPress related.
When you get a moment, check out my new photo gallery and if you like what you see, WPPA (WP Photo Album) just might be the solution you’ve been looking for.
Visit the official WPPA (WP Photo Album) project page for more information.

Thanks for your review and all your help with this plugin.
Hey, that looks pretty sweet. I’ve always used Gallery2 as a gallery in WordPress, but it’s just too bloated to embed (works great on it’s own though). WPAA looks really sweet and yours feels pretty light. I’m going to give it a whirl, thanks!
No problem Joe.
It’s really nice to finally have a self contained solution for having my pictures back up on my site which have been missing since I moved over to WordPress 2+ years ago.
You are going to make a lot of people happy with this and I already have more suggestions on my list for you
Hey Adam. Glad I was able to share something cool and geektastic with you.
I like how you did the light box effects when opening full size images.
As for features to come, keep in mind this is version 1.0 and more will come from it.
I’ve already got a nice “to-do” list for Joe and myself to get added into the plugin.
Is one of those to-do list items the ability to reorder the photos? I don’t see any way to change the order of the photos once they are in the album.
If so, I will go ahead and load up the pictures in the order I want them, with the expectation that I can change the order with an upgraded version.
Hi David.
Yes, reordering the pictures is on the to-do list for the upcoming release.

Hey can i use more than one instance of wppa on the same site. I tried renaming everything and reuploading to plugin folder and activating it.. fatal error of course.. couldn’t be that easy.
Want to use one instance for 1 set of galleries on a wordpress page that will be constantly changing albums…
the other is for works of my makeup artists.
Hy
I’ve installed the plugin and done everithing as in the guide.
Plugin installed with succes but i’m not able to visualize the page “photo album†that apperars in the main page (sidebar).
Since that moment also the “about†page is impossible to view.
Everything i select in the sidebar, don’ t work…
Always remain in the main page.
So what’s happened?
What i should do?
Thanks
Jason
