Viruses have really hit it big in the twenty first century, haven’t they? Every time you turn around, you’ve got a dozen new pieces of malevolent code sitting around on your computer.
The free virus killers do the job, but they don’t always do it well. Most free antivirus programs are being pushed by software makers who also create paid programs to kill viruses, and of course, the paying customers are always going to take precedence and get the better deal.
It’s becoming a real competitive market. Everyone has to deal with viruses, so everyone has to get some good antivirus software. There are plenty of people out there trying only to turn over a quick buck by putting out a cheap, slapped together antivirus program and calling it a day.
Luckily, that’s why they invented trial software downloads. Most of the better virus killers are going to offer you anywhere from one to two months for a free trial download before you finally have to register the thing. This is great, as it allows you to look at every last one of your options before spending any of your hard earned money.
Our advice is to just go ahead and grab some of these free downloads, and look for a few things before paying anything for them…
Does it work?
This is, of course, the most important thing you should know. Don’t settle for it working just once, or even over the course of just one week. Wait out the whole trial offer period and make sure it doesn’t start performing weakly over time. You see, a lot of antivirus programs are kind of skimpy when it comes to updates, and unfortunately, updates are the only thing that will ever keep your antivirus program in top shape.
Is it Easy to Use?
A lot of antivirus programs may be effective, but impossible to use, and vice versa. Look for a good antivirus program that doesn’t force you to compromise. It shouldn’t be hard to get everything from a low price to great user friendliness to effective results all in one.
Does it seem worth the price?
A lot of virus scanners, you give them a try and you think “I would gladly pay twenty bucks for this, but fifty? Yeesh!” That’s not the one you want to buy. Give some others a try and see if you can find something as good or better for a lower price.
