The new portable CD/DVD writer offered by Transcend was created specifically with compact notebooks, including Netbooks in mind.
An increasing number of these smaller devices don’t come with built in CD or DVD drives and writers so a portable drive will increase the capabilities of these machines and no doubt enhance user experience.
Provided you have a USB slot on your laptop or Netbook, and these days most of them do, all you have to do is plug it into your USB slot and away you go. No external power adapter is required.

To be able to use the CD/DVD writer you need to have a laptop or a Netbook with two working USB ports and either Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Users who are planning to upgrade to Windows 7, Microsoft’s newest and latest operating system needn’t worry either, Transcend maintain that the device is fully prepared and has passed all of Windows 7 compatibility tests and the drive is guaranteed to work with both current and future systems.
