Once again, we find that we are looking at a new ultrabook, this time it is from Toshiba and it belongs the Satellite range. The U845W-S410 is the entry level machine in this range, it has a starting price of $999, but other models are available for those with bigger demands from their machine and as such the prices for the range go up to almost $1,600, it is a wide spread but there is a lot of difference between the two models.
Today we are focussing on the base model, where else is there to start from? The Satellite U845W-S410 has a medium sized screen at 14.4 inch widescreen with an Ultra wide HD TruBrite TFT display supporting Intel Wireless Display Technology with a 1792 x 768 of pixel resolutions and a built in web camera and microphone for easy face to face communications.
It will be running Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) SP1 operating and is powered by the Intel Core i5-3317U Processor with support for the Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD offering 64 MB to 1696 MB of dynamically allocated shared graphics memory.
There is a reasonable 6 GB of DDR3 1600 MHz memory and storage comes in two parts with the 500 GB hard disk drive (HDD) with 5400 RPM, Serial ATA) and the 32 GB (system use only) solid state disk (SSD) cache. Networking as normal uses the built in 10/100 Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth version 4.0 plus HS and the Intel Wi-Fi Wireless networking which is 802.11 b/g/n + WiDi Capable.
There is a USB 3.0 port with USB Sleep and Charge, with an additional two fast connecting USB 3.0 ports, the HDMI output port and a memory Card Reader. This machine is light too at just four pounds with the Li-Ion 54Wh, 4 Cell battery pack installed that Toshiba say will give up to 8.36 hours power.
Toshiba have priced the Satellite U845W-S410 at starting from $999, which is fair enough price to start with, but expect to add a couple hundred onto that in order to customise it to your personal preferences.
