We can expect to see whole new range of ultrabooks being launched over the coming months as Intel begin to ramp its advertising for the thin, light and of course, Intel powered ultrabook design. One of the latest models to hit the scene is from Toshiba, it is the Satellite U940 and apart from meeting all of the necessary requirements, this ultrabook will be running Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system. The Satellite U940 is stylish and has sleek lines, it will be powered by the latest third generation of Intel processor, chipset and graphics, while being thin at just under 21 mm and light at under two kilos.
So that is the Satellite U940, now let us have a look at what is underneath that shiny exterior, the Satellite U940 has a nice sized 14 inch LCD screen with LED backlight, 200 CSV, with a 1366 x 768 of pixel resolution and there is a built in 1.0 mega pixel web camera for those online meetings and social events. It will be running the latest Microsoft Windows 8 (64 bit) operating system and is to be powered by the latest 3rd generation of Intel processor especially designed for the use in ultrabooks as well as the graphics coming from the Intel HD 4000 graphics card.
There will be up to 6 GB of DDR3 RAM (1,600 MHz) and for storage there is up to 1 TB hard disk drive (HDD) and a useful thin and light 32 GB solid state drive (SSD) available. For networking there is the usual WLAN (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0 and Intel Wireless Display, while connectivity has two fast connecting USB 3.0 ports one with the Sleep and Charge feature, one standard USB 2.0 port, HDMI out, Ethernet LAN, SDTM Card Reader, Microphone in and headset out. The dimensions of the Satellite U940 are 339.8 mm (W) x 238.3 mm (D) x 20.9 mm (H) and it weighs in at just 1.79 kilos.
Toshiba have not issued any prices or details of availability for the Satellite U940 yet.
