Whenever a new laptop appears on the market, there is usually a big performance, but in the case of Gateway, this just never seems to happen despite now being part of Acer! The Gateway NV57H50U Laptop is no exception to this rule and it seems to have caused confusion with the retailers too as the prices vary from $280 to $360, I know where I would be going if I were in the market for a 15.6 inch Intel Celeron powered laptop
The Gateway NV57H50U comes with a 15.6 inch LED backlit LCD high definition widescreen display With Ultrabright technology, with a 1366 x 768 of pixel resolution and with a built in 1.3 mega pixel high definition web camera and microphone.
It will be powered by the new Intel Celeron B800 processor that features a 2 MB L3 cache and 1.5 GHz processor speed, while video and graphics come from the Intel high definition Graphics 3000 that features 128 MB of dedicated video memory.
There will be 2 GB of DDR3 memory as standard, which is expandable to 8 GB if required, and there is a 320 GB Serial ATA hard disk drive (HDD) at 5400 rpm.
Networking and connectivity are important features these days and as such this laptop has a wireless LAN (802.11 b/g/n), 10/100/1000 Giga bit Ethernet LAN, a Multi into 1 media reader, 1 x superfast USB 3.0 port and 2 x standard USB 2.0 ports.
The unit weighs in at 5.7 pounds and measures just 1.3 inches thin, a six cell lithium-ion battery that is claimed to provide enough power for up to four hours of use while running the Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system.
Prices for this machine vary dramatically, it can be found as low as $279 and yet on Amazon it is priced at $369!
