Finis SwiMP3.1G – waterproof MP3 player with no phones

swimp3 technology 6 Finis SwiMP3.1G waterproof MP3 player with no phonesOK – this is a cool little gadget for all you water lovers out there.  The Finis SwiMP3.1G – clever huh – is a waterproof MP3 player that transmits sound waves via your cheek bones.  Yep, you read it right, no earbuds, no muffled sounds, just 100% bone transferred sound vibrations directly to your inner ear.

The Finis SwiMP3.13G features 1GB of storage, along with an 8 hour lithium-ion battery that charges through USB.  File transfer is done via simple drag-and-drop functionality, and the device plays MP3 and WMA file formats.  Apple and Windows computers are both supported as well, so most of you will be covered in that regard.

While these specs are impressive but not-really-that-impressive if you know what I mean, what is most definitely cool about the SwiMP3.1G is its ability to make sweet sweet music without needing any earbuds or headphones whatsoever.  By using an innovative method of sound technology that transmits sound through the cheek bones to the inner ear, the SwiMP3.1G manages to avoid the pitfalls of other waterproof MP3 designs.

Basically, the SwiMP3.1G uses the principles of sound conduction, where individual sound waves are vibrated through the bones and into the connecting fluids of the inner ear.  This allows swimmers and water lovers to enjoy the kind of high quality sound output that was previously reserved for land loving folk.  The actual device itself can be attached to either a pair of swimming goggles or a snorkeling mask, so you will need either one of these for it to be useful.

The Finis SwiMP3.1G has a built in on/off button, along with an MP3 control panel featuring next/previous, volume, pause, and shuffle.  The 1GB capacity should give you about 240 songs, which I’d imagine is enough for even the marathon swimmers out there among you.  The SwiMP3.1 is selling for $149.95, which while not cheap, is not too bad for such an innovative and unique new product.
