The Electronic Wallet For Easier Banking. Will It Work?

Check out this new E-Wallet design by Ollie Boulton. The E-Wallet is an electronic wallet capable of keeping multiple accounts on one simple device allowing you to make payments, check statements, transfer balances and do just about anything you would want to do with your bank accounts.

Yes, gone are the days when we carried wads of notes or our cheque book about with us to make purchases. Online banking is now commonplace and we’re slowly and surely doing away with paper statements as many of us opt for an electronic version that is conveniently emailed to our inbox.

The times are changing for sure. Many stores have now stopped dealing in cheques altogether and the truth is that less and less of us are carrying cash around. Our wallets are now packed full of bank cards instead.

The E-Wallet takes us one step further. If it takes off, we will be able to make payments for as little as a few pounds without having to use our credit cards. Basically we would just pay for our items via bank transfer or direct debit through a tab set up on the E-Wallet device for petty cash.

The E wallet has also been designed so that we would be able to make payments wirelessly at pay points or store checkouts. Ok so the stores would have to be equipped with the technology to accept these payments first and I don’t know how feasible that is or how many stores would buy into that. I mean there are still stores today who don’t accept chip and pin.

The designer also claims that with the right technology fitted it would even allow us to pay for our purchases just by leaving the store which of course would eliminate the need to stand in long queues for hours on end. I must admit, that would appeal to me and I’m sure to a lot of other folk too. Supermarket queues are the pits.

As for security, well the E wallet is password protected of course, you would need a password just to get into it and then would need a separate pin code for each account you have set up on the device. You would also able to change this pin code whenever you wanted to using a computer.

However, I’m really not sure if the E Wallet would actually work. It would take quite a bit of getting used to. Then again, not so long ago who would have thought we’d be paying our bills wirelessly over the internet so I suppose anything is possible.
