There has been much whispering and speculation circulating around the web in recent weeks about Apple’s new mystery notebook code named “The Brick”. Now a brick doesn’t sound too exciting does it, kind of reminds us of the old chunky mobile phones we used to proudly carry around with us. So what is all the fuss about this time?
Some are saying the new notebook is actually a re-design of the Mac Mini made into something bigger. Interestingly enough though, it’s not so much the specs, the size, or the appearance of the new laptop that is causing quite a stir, instead it’s a new type of manufacturing process that is at the root of all the excitement, something Apple has hinted at in recent months. Rumour has it that Apple will fashion this new MacBook out of one solid chunk of aircraft grade aluminium, in other words a brick, using sophisticated 3D Lasers and water jet cutting technology.
This means of course that the new notebook will be seamless so no need for screws to hold it together as the entire case will come in one single piece. It will feel light in weight but will still be super strong and it will make it easier and quicker for Apple to produce new prototypes and designs. In fact, there has probably been nothing like the brick on the market to date which is why it is attracting so much attention.
Apple of course haven’t said a word, well not officially they haven’t anyway, so we really don’t know for sure if any of this is true. We shouldn’t have to wait too long to find out for certain though, rumour has it that Apple will make an announcement on the 14th October so watch this space.
