The Acer Aspire One D250 Netbook Arrives

Acer has done it again, they have yet another Netbook about to hit the streets, this time it’s the Acer Aspire One D250, and by all accounts it could become a top seller.

Of course we’re not surprised, we’ve been waiting on Acer to give us the official word and full specs on this one after details of it were leaked onto the Internet sparking off the usual anticipation and speculation amongst the bloggers. But now we have them and Acer direct have the D250 listed on their product pages.

The new Aspire One D250 comes with Microsoft Windows XP Home operating system and either the Atom N270 or Atom N280 processors, so no surprises there. It will support up to 2GB DDR2 memory, has a 2.5 inch160GB SATA hard drive and the usual array of connectivity options including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 3G with support for HSDPA for high speed Internet connections, and HSUPA and UMTS networks.

The 10 inch CrystalBrite LED back lit WSVGA screen with a resolution of 1024 x 600 is pretty standard for Netbooks. Other features include, a 5 in 1 multi card reader, speakers, Acer 0.3 CrystalEye webcam, 3 USB ports, VGA and audio ports, and it also has RJ-45 Ethernet connectivity.

Another attractive feature and a good selling point for this Netbook is the 6 cell battery with a 7.5 hour battery life which means almost a full working day of use or play.

Ok so we’ve got the specs but equally important is the design. The D250 sports a new slim-line design is just 1 inch thin and weighs 1.33kg so comes out top in portability; and that’s what Netbooks are all about aren’t they.

As for colour, well apparently you will be able to have this little gem in a range of colours including ruby red, sapphire blue, seashell white or diamond black but in the UK it looks like it will only be available in plain blue, at least to start with anyway.

The Acer Aspire One 250 has already started shipping in parts of Europe and is expected to start shipping in the UK next month at a cost of around £350. It is available for pre order now from the Acer direct website.

Acer is currently one of the top 5 sellers of Netbooks along with Asus, HP, Samsung and Dell.
