This might be old news to some of my readers but I did have some friends who were unaware of this useful information, so I’m posting about it to make sure everyone knows.
That’s right, as my post title says RegisterFly.com lost it’s ICANN accreditation.
In an notice to RegisterFly on March 16, 2007 they no longer have ICANN Accreditation as of March 31, 2007.
Effective immediately ICANN has terminated RegisterFly’s right to use the ICANN Accredited Registrar logo on its website.
Between now and 31 March RegisterFly is required to unlock and provide all necessary Authinfo codes to allow domain name transfers to occur.
Any and all registrants wishing to transfer away from RegisterFly during this period should be allowed to do so efficiently and expeditiously.
What does this mean? It makes them useless as a domain name registrar. DO NOT renew your names with RegisterFly.
Friends have told me that RegisterFly will continue to charge your credit card but nothing will be done regarding your domain.
Apparently when ICANN told them to quit selling domain names, they never told their users and stopped sending out renewal notices.
If you have any domains with them, I highly suggest you try and move them to another company and maybe even contact ICANN directly so you don’t lose your domain names.

I can’t believe they kept sending out notices after they knew they couldn’t actually do anything about the domain names. That’s just dirty.
I still have $10.99 in my account but am unable to use it to renew any of my domain names. I guess that money’s gone, too!
