The number of people taking up Nokia’s N-Gage gaming service has increased to the extent that now almost 1 million players have created personal profiles on the N-Gage community pages. This is up by nearly 60% from the previous figure of 400,000 given only 3 months ago.
So why the sudden increase? It isn’t really rocket science. The take up of N-Gage has accelerated since Nokia started pre-installing N-Gage into its middle and higher end phone models said a spokesman from Nokia on Tuesday.
Prior to this, if you wanted to participate you had to download the service yourself, provided you had an N-Gage compatible phone of course, which is likely to prove too much of a hassle for many folks. Pre-installing it makes complete sense and you can only ask why they haven’t done it before. If you want people to take up a service then it pays to make it easier for them to do so.
If consumers have to go to the bother of downloading the software etc., then only those who are particularly interested or dedicated to gaming experiences are likely to take up the service. However, put it in front of people and you will have more people trying it out who might otherwise not bother.
Eventually Nokia are planning to sell all of its digital content via its new online Ovi store which allows users to share photos, access new music tracks, buy games, access PC files when on the move and much more.
However, for the present at least, Nokia will continue to keep the N-Gage gaming service separate a Nokia executive told Reuters in a recent interview.
Last month, it was announced that Fishlabs Entertainment GmbH, a leading developer and publisher of 3D mobile games and Nokia signed an agreement to bring Fishlabs games to N-Gage.
N-Gage is a mobile games service provided by Nokia which makes it easy for people with N-Gage compatible phones to find out about new games, try them out or buy them as well as play the games with other people from all around the world.
Avid gamers and users of N-Gage will therefore be delighted to learn that five award winning new games titles will be available to N-Gage in the coming 12 months. These include Powerboat Challenge, Rally Master Pro, Snowboard Hero, Galaxy on Fire and Blades and Magic.
