SRG Clean Archives 4.0.2 Released
Yes, I know SRG Clean Archives 4.0 was just released about 24-48 hours ago but hey, I’m a code monkey and I like to fine tune my code with the various projects that I work on.
Without any further delay, I bring you SRG Clean Archives version 4.0.2.
So you must be asking yourself “what the hell could Sean have updated now with this amazing WordPress plugin?”
I did a little more code clean up so the archive output validates XHTML (pending your page template is valid).
Also per a user feature request from Gene Steinberg of “Mac Night Owl” I added an option to the plugin admin menu so you can toggle on/off the moo.fx for collapsing months.
For the JavaScript geeks out there, this moo.fx visual effect feature is enabled by default.
If moo.fx is not enabled, your full archive display will be shown (yes, 3 miles long for some users) but it’s still using the caching function so it loads nice and fast.
Of course, I also updated the readme.txt and the change-log.txt file, so be sure to check those out too.
I guess that’s it for now, however I am working on a couple of other minor things with using the moo.fx enabled option, so there could be another release in the coming days.
For all the SRG Clean Archive users and supporters out there in WordPress Land, if you have any suggestions, comments or bug reports, let me know.
Thank you for your continued support and use of SRG Clean Archives.
PayPal donations are never expected but always appreciated:

Thank you so much for the kind credit.
You do some amazing work here, and I’ll do what I can to tell the people I know to check out your stuff.
People like you make WordPress a wonderful working environment.
Peace,
Gene
You’re welcome for the mention Gene.
Thank you for your continued support, suggestions and use of the plugin.
Now go pick on someone else’s WordPress plugin for a while so I can get a break from coding for a few minutes
Not to fear, my friend, there’s always another victim in my goal to make my WordPress experience as pleasant as possible
Go get some sleep.
Peace,
Gene
Okay, I am sitting here mouth wide open. That is one *amazing* quantum leap in functionality, you have here!!!
I used to have two pages in my “Data Mining” section: one for a list of all the entries and one for a list of months. I guess I can merge these into one now.
Of course, since nothing is ever quite perfect, can I make one more feature suggestion
The new implementation has lost all contact with the standard WP monthly lists, if you understand what I mean by that. In version 2 if I clicked on the name of the month I got taken to that standard list (with categories, excerpts and all). Now I don’t.
Would it be possible to either add a link to do that, or (better) change the functionality of clicking on the month so that when “Expand All Months” is selected the behaviour of the names of the months changes to how it was in the old version.
….after you have had a well deserved break of course
Cheers, and many many thanks.
Hi Owen. Glad you like the latest release.
I completely understand what you mean about the standard monthly lists and that’s one of the minor things I mentioned that’s on my to-do list to correct.
I’ll be back on the case in the next day or so. I want to let my brain relax a bit.
Thanks for your support.
You are fast! A 4.0.2 is here even before I have had a change to update to 4.0
One feature I would like to see in future versions is the ability to display the archive according to category rather than date.
With the collapsible layout this would probably make it easier for the reader to find what he needs.
Also another question is the moo.fx js loaded only on the Archive page or is it added to all pages
And please dont use IP based filtering (I think it is Bad Behaviour plugin). It is detecting me as a spam bot. I am using http://www.anonymouse.org to post this comment.
Hi Pallab.
Indeed, really fast with the releases but they will be slowing down now to let the dust settle with this release.
However, I do have some new features that are currently being tested, so probably in the next week or two there will be another release.
I have added your feature request to my list and will see what I can come up with.
To answer your question, the moo.fx is only loaded for the archives page.
I do use Bad Behavior, so if it’s blocking you, maybe your ISP is being blocked? Check with the developer of Bad Behavior to confirm.
Thank you for your continued support of my plugin.
[...] with “just fine”. I decided to replace it with a similar, but superior plugin. SRG Clean Archives is that plugin. What makes it [...]
Yes, all ip addresses belonging to BSNL Dataone (India’s largest ISP) is blocked by Bad Developer. This is because due to some reason they are blacklisted. So, its not just bad behaviour for wordpress - many services that use ip address based filtering blocks Dataone users.
Thanks for your hard work on this great extension AND your help setting it up on my WordPress install!
Hi Myra.
You’re welcome. I’m glad that I was able to help you out.
