Spam Filter Words? What Are Those?

Spam Filter Words? What Are Those?

Does spam really work? I mean, really, does anybody fall for it?

Somebody must be, or else they wouldn’t keep spamming. Some poor grandpa who got a laptop for Christmas, and his loving kids who didn’t bother telling him not to even bother opening emails if he doesn’t know the sender. Maybe someone else who’s just lonely enough that they’re glad to be receiving any email. I don’t mean to sound rude, but what are these people thinking? Is some foreign dignitary really going to help you get some erectile dysfunction pills and put the spark back in your marriage?

And aren’t spammers becoming really predictable? It’s always going to be a political refugee who needs to send you a half a billion dollars, or it’s going to be something you can do to increase your libido, or it’s going to be adult sites (Actually, one of my favourites was a spam mail advertising a spam blocker. Do these guys want to put themselves out of business or something?).

Well, it’s a good thing those spammers are so predictable, because that’s exactly how spam filter words work.

One of the main ways a spam blocker works is that it blocks a number of known spam sources based on a huge database. Whenever a new spam address is discovered, it’s added to the database.

So spam words are for the spam mails coming from addresses that have yet to be identified as belonging to a bunch of idiots who nobody likes!

And really, it’s gotten to be pretty easy! How many legit emails have you received that start out with “deer freind do yu want to IMPROVE SEXUAL PREFORMANSE IN YR BEDROOOM!!>>??? LOVE LIFE?!”

So by simply blocking any email with these obvious keywords, even the spam coming from new sources won’t find its way into your inbox.

Okay, so this leaves the obvious question of… what do you do if you’ve actually been talking to your doctor about helping to solve your erectile dysfunction, and you actually need to get that important email from him about Viagra?

Simple, add his email to your address book, and the spam blocker should know not to block it.

If you’re wondering what you’re going to do when a real political refugee wants to really send you half a billion dollars, well, we’re sorry to say, but that was probably a spam email, and you are in need of two things; a good spam blocker, and a crash course in common sense!
