I'm a designer. For a long time I was blinded by the idea that macs were the best in multi-media and design notebooks. I stand corrected. I purchased a Sony VAIO VGN-FW378J and I have never been as impressed with a piece of technical equipment in my life. With a full 1080p resolution and ample memory to handle multiple Adobe programs and superfast web-surfing simultaneously, the Sony has performed superbly and exceeded all claims and expectations. I paid about as much as a similarly equipped Mac, but the mac did not come with a blu-ray player/burner. A bit disappointed that it came loaded with Vista, but I'm willing to overlook it. The Sony is the truth!
