Isn’t life interesting! In anticipation of the worldwide release in May and June of the Warner Bros film Terminator Salvation, Sony have launched a new, first of its kind, multi-player viral game created entirely for Twitter. Yes Twitter.
Everyone knows that Terminator Salvation is about John Connor leading the human resistance against Skynet and its terminators but what on earth can Twitters do about it?

Sal Ladestro, Executive Vice President of Marketing, for Sony Pictures Releasing International (SPRI) commented, “Twitter users can join John Connor in the war against the machines by following the tweets at Resistance 2018. In the fight against Skynet and the Terminators, mass communication is vital, so it’s no surprise that the resistance would turn to Twitter. We think this is the perfect environment for the Terminator game as it allows users to interact with the movie, their friends and other game players instantaneously.”
Sounds like fun actually.
Basically the object of the game is to join one of the resistance armies and fight the dreaded terminator machines.
Your progress is decided by how many points you earn and the more points you have, the more opportunities you will have and of course you will rise in rank too.
To get these valuable points you have to follow orders and assignments and de-code messages that are sent out as tweets on twitter.
A sample of Code Names used are RA – Resistance Assignment, WM – Word Mix, TR – Trivia, PT – Partial Transmission, SW – Skynet Warning.
Careful though, the machines will carry out random attacks from time to time and slash your points. However, a leader board keeps you up to date with who’s on top.
Twitter users will be able to follow it all and communicate with other members of the resistance through their own twitter account.
Are you following me? No I didn’t mean on Twitter, I meant the aim of the game!
If you fancy a go and want instructions you can login at the Resistance2018 website using your twitter details to find out how to play.
Twitter is a micro blogging social networking site where users post short 140 character updates on what they are doing now. It has become phenomenally popular in recent months with nearly a 90% increase in users from January to February this year.
So who’s joining the resistance then?
