Sony Ericsson Satio withdrawn by Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U due to faults

Sony Ericsson SatioAfter receiving numerous complaints from customers, both Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4U have taken the decision to stop selling the Sony Ericsson Satio handsets “temporarily” both companies have announced.

There are no details available as to exactly what has been going wrong with the mobile phone as none of the companies have been that specific but from all accounts, the problems are software related issues.

Sony are bound to be feeling the pressure just now, so what do they have to say about it?

“Sony Ericsson confirms that it has been made aware that a small number of consumers have experienced software issues with its Satio handset when using certain applications” the company said in a statement.

We get some clues as to the full nature of the problems online in reviews written by customers who have been affected by the software glitches.

“Now on my second Satio and it still has the same issues” the BBC reported that one user by the name of Iain H. wrote on an online review site

“Screen freezing and no ring tone. Only way to solve the problem is to take the battery out”

Other reviewers were complaining about the Sony Ericsson Satio for exactly the same issue. “I’m glad I’m not the only one with this problem” the reviewer added.

T Mobile, another mobile phone provider has been trying to allay customer fears. They contacted the Daily Mirror in the UK with a statement about the Sony Ericsson Satio.

“The software on the SE Satio handset is the first/launch version. As with many new devices, software is improved over time based on customer feedback.

“Sony Ericsson has committed to address the issues in the next software release, expected in two-three weeks. This will be available to download from Sony Ericsson’s website – a link will be provided on the T-Mobile website”.

So if you have a Sony Ericsson Satio and you are also having hassle, what can you do about it?

“We are working closely with Sony Ericsson to restock the Satio phone as soon as possible and will offer any customer who returns a faulty Satio an exchange of phone”. The Carphone Warehouse says in a statement.

Phones4U are also offering an exchange of phone “non like for like” and no doubt there will be others following suit.

Not good news for Sony!
