Some of the Best Free Anti Spam Software

popfile5 Some of the Best Free Anti Spam Software

Did you ever hear about the bald, married man who was overweight, deep in debt, and was about ready to file for bankruptcy?

Yeah, supposedly, he responded to a few random, unsolicited emails he got, and all his problems were fixed overnight. First, he got himself some erectile dysfunction pills. And, well, that sure brought the spark back into his love life. Next, he grabbed himself some hair restoration tonic, and got on a new miracle diet being advertised through his email. Believe it or not, the guy looks like Brad Pitt now.

Finally, he solved all his financial troubles pretty easily. There was this Iranian Political Refugee, you see, and this fellow needed the guy’s credit card and bank account information so that he could send him millions and millions of dollars, for reasons that didn’t entirely make sense to anyone involved.

What’s that? You never heard of that guy? Yeah, me neither.

The people writing spam think we’re stupid. That must be what it is. Who in the heck is out there actually clicking on these links? Somebody must be, right? Or else the spammers wouldn’t keep spamming us. I know I certainly don’t read all these spam mails and click on the links, and I know it isn’t you, so who the heck keeps encouraging these guys?!

Well, as long as some ding dong out there is going to keep downloading every attachment thrown at him, we’re going to have to keep dealing with spam. Our advice is to just grab some good free spam protection for now, until we can find everybody’s grandmas and tell them to stop opening those spam mails!

eXpurgate

This is a pretty good one if you like to have some degree of control over your options without having to take care of too much. eXpurgate is easy to use and easy to configure. Imagine that! Some users say that it can get a little heavy when it comes to using up your RAM, but that only happens when you’re literally getting tons and tons of spam, so exercise caution when sharing your email address, and you should be alright on that front.

POPFile

POPFile is a pretty good little program if you just want a great hands off approach to your spam. You simply install it, it updates itself when it needs to, and it gets rid of spam. Simple as that. Some reviewers don’t like the lack of easy configuration, but the program is really designed more for people who don’t care about that kind of thing, so for its intended customer, you can’t really complain.
