Spam is pretty annoying. We all hate spam and will go to any length to get rid of it. Some of us will even reply to a spam mail just to tell the spammer exactly what they can do with those erectile dysfunction pills.
But why do we really hate spam? Well, when all is said and done, we don’t like having to sift through a dozen or so useless emails to get to the one or two emails we actually need to read.
So of course, that’s where antispam software comes in. But then, the problem with antispam software is simply that… well, a lot of it doesn’t really save the time it’s supposed to be saving. A lot of it won’t block a single spam mail until you’ve already put the spammer on a blacklist (and can’t you already do that by blocking an email address from your email client?). There’s simply a lot of anti spam software out there that is just plain not easy to use. It requires lengthy configuration, maintenance, we have to restart our computer every time we get the daily update, etcetera.
So with that in mind, we’re going to go ahead and list a couple of great, effective, and most importantly, very easy to use antispam programs. No need to thank us, just get to work and keep your inbox safe.
POPFile
What POPFile has going for it is that it really is easy to use, it blocks nearly 100% of all spam, and it gets regular updates. It’s really designed for the user who just wants to install their spam filter and forget about. This may bother some users who like having a little more in the way of customizability, but for most users, POPFile will do just fine.
eXpurgate
A little more powerful than POPFile, eXpurgate also offers a few more options. However, the configuration on eXpurgate couldn’t possibly be any easier than it is. Just a simple matter of clicking some checkboxes and answering a few questions, and you’re set.
McAfee Security Center
The thing about McAfee Security Center is that it’s not just an easy to use, it is also a complete, all in one package to get rid of spam and pop ups, to kill viruses and Trojans, and to keep your computer clean and safe. Fifty bucks may be more than you want to spend (as POPFile and eXpurgate are both free), but, McAfee is really the only program you’ll ever need for all of your computer security needs.
