It hasn’t been a week since the dust settled after Apple announced their New iPad. Already the rumor mill is churning at full speed. Word on the street is that Apple’s supposed 7-inch screen touting iPad Mini tablet is going to have a slim bezel display. Be advised that rumors regarding iPad Mini have been circulating for well over a year now and nothing credible or official has been said or leaked about it.

The New iPad was unveiled by Apple on March 7, 2012 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, California. Apple’s new tablet retains the style, design and dimensions of it’s predecessor, yet it packs amazing new technologies under the hood. Apple started the tablet revolution in the market when it released the first ever iPad back in 2007. The company has always stuck with it’s signature design that touts a 9.7-inch screen.

The late Steve Jobs, Co-founder and two time CEO of Apple, believed that 7-inch tablets were not practical enough. He believed that a tablet with 7-inch screen was not able to express the full potential of software running on the device itself. He had made it quite clear that Apple would never pursue manufacturing such a device. Much has changed since his demise. The helms of Apple are in Tim Cook’s hands, which means that he can do as he pleases.

One of the reasons put forward by analysts and tech journalists is the gradual success of Amazon’s Kindle Fire. Amazon really innovated and captured a market segment that was untapped. They created a 7-inch tablet and priced it at $200. This tablet runs Android and is capable of running full scale apps while allowing it’s user the luxury of web browsing using Wi-Fi and much more. Many people believe that Apple will release a 7-inch tablet which, for lack of a better word, is dubbed iPad Mini as of now. Apple will manufacture this product to steal whatever market share the Kindle Fire has garnered. This will allow the company to dominate not only in the lucratively priced tablet market, but in the moderately priced one as well.

So how does a slim bezel fit in the picture? Trade publication Digitimes is reporting that Apple is going to fit a slim bezel display on it’s 7-inch iPad. Do keep in mind that this trade publication has been right about a few Apple product rumors in the past. They also believe that Apple will not add Retina Display to the iPad Mini. The only logical explanation for this could be to control the price, because the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch 4G have Retina Display on a 4-inch screen and the New iPad has Retina Display at 9.7-inch screen. Surely it wouldn’t be impossible to bring this technology on a 7-inch screen.

The fact remains though, we really don’t know if Apple intends to launch an iPad Mini. The does need to announce a new product though, and the 7-inch iPad seems like the perfect thing to do.
