As most of my Geek With Laptop readers know, the Skype development and support team has been extremely busy the past 24-48 hours recovering from a major system wide outage.
As of a few hours ago things appear to be running normal again on the Skype network and moments ago they released a new version of Skype with some bug fixes.
I’m not sure if any of these fixes were the cause of the major Skype blackout but it’s always good to keep up-to-date with software releases, especially when there are bug and security fixes.
For my readers who like unordered lists, yay fellow geeks, here is the detailed list of what’s new in Skype version 3.5.0.214:
- change: Extras Manager updated to version 1.5.0.3
- bugfix: Skype sometimes crashed on receiving chat message
- bugfix: Skype sometimes crashed when handling mood message
- bugfix: Can’t resume call after putting it on hold in some cases
- bugfix: Video mood and chat messages sometimes displayed wrong thumbnails
- bugfix: On call transfer dialogue blocked and deleted contacts were shown
- bugfix: Phone number on Outlook contacts was not shown
- bugfix: On rare occasions Voice Mail download failed
- bugfix API: Switching to silent mode took too long
Be sure to go grab the latest version of Skype for your Operating System of choice.
A little bit about Skype:
Skype is internet communications. Skype is software that lets you use your computer and internet connection to communicate with anyone, anywhere in the world.
