Company's don't want to lay aside their old equipment and follow the tech buzz thereby holding down civilization. What a pity.

Dial-up is stone age technology now and I am shocked that it’s still sticking around. That is the phone base fee of $16, plus the extra to reach another city. Our Earthlink charge is $21.99. The different "satalite" connections have hidden lease of equipment charges. I hope you are right that wireless is coming.I also have poor cell phone service. However, I do wake up to watch the deer walk over the yard.

I’ve been so angry about dial-up. While staying at my Dad's I was seriously considering satellite internet because I was sick of having nothing, and wasn't even considering dial-up. It was very frustrating since my Dad didn't understand why I needed the fast internet. It was also very hard to explain it to him too. He's still back in the 60's and 70's when this didn't exist.I called earthlink because they were the only provider that had satellite that I could find in the phonebook and basically gave up when I hear the installation fees - $600!At least now I am not living at his Trailer and I have free wireless.
My point is... don't live in the country if you want fast internet at a fair price.

My Dad lives out in the sticks and he’s an old geezer who doesn’t know what internet is all about and I am a college student who relies on internet every single day of my life and eventually for a job.
