Netbooks are definitely the new craze at the moment and have been ever since Asus launched the first Netbook back in 2007. Since then everyone else has followed suit and there has been no shortage of Netbooks on offer to choose from.
Netbooks are basically ultra portable laptops that can be taken anywhere and everywhere to provide you with access to the Internet and emails when on the move.
However, the biggest problem is of course the battery life. Most Netbooks last a few hours at the most before you have to recharge them which can be a complete hassle if you want to spend any length of time away from an electric socket.
Now the newly revealed Samsung NC310 has arrived offering practically a full day’s usage with a whopping 11 hours of battery life before you have to worry about having to recharge it. This is even better than the Asus Eee PC that gives just over 9 hours.

However, there’s a bit of a catch and it’s quite a big one. You need to have the extended battery to get this amount of battery life and we don’t know how much you’re going to have to pay up for this. If you stick with the standard battery then you’ll get just what you get with most of the other Netbooks on the go, around half that time or approximately 5 hours.
So what else do you get with the NC310 apart from the option of an extended battery life?
There’s the 10.1 inch screen, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, an onboard 1.3 megapixel webcam and an Atom processor all of which is nothing special as far as Netbooks go. It’s also slightly on the heavy side too, for a Netbook anyway, weighing in at just less than 1 and a quarter kilos.
Something that is worth mentioning is its appearance. It just doesn’t look like a bog standard boring Netbook. In fact the bright pastel colours (although you can get it in black) and smoother edges give it a bit of charm in a childlike sort of way. Whether you would want to be seen out and about with it or not is another matter entirely.
As yet we don’t know when it will be available other than it will be rolled out across the world “pretty soon”.

Just off the wall for a bit… the Purple netbook from Hovrs.com… I would like to see comparisons of it to other netbooks.
