For those consumers interested in the Chrome powered ultraportable laptop from Samsung, but who did not want it is silver or white they will be pleased to that Samsung have brought out a version in a deep and luscious piano black. It is the same machine underneath from what we can see, but let us remind ourselves of what this interesting machine has to offer the consumer who wants portability. It is worth pointing here, that in order to for the machine to actually do anything worthwhile, it must have wireless internet access!
The all black series 5 Chromebook has a 12.1 inch LED back lit display sporting an anti-reflective screen, with a 1280 x 800 pixel resolutions and a web camera for video chatting and putting images onto social networking sites while on the go! It is powered by the handy 1.66 GHz Intel Atom dual core N570 processor. Storage is a 16 GB solid state drive (SSD) and the System Memory is 2 GB of DDR3 RAM.
Communication is taken care of with the Wireless-N Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n), but there is no Bluetooth installed, which is a little disappointing. Connectivity comes from 2 x standard USB 2.0 and 4 into 1 memory card reader (SD, SDHC, SDXC and MMC), there is not HDMI instead there is a video out port (VGA) with dongle included.
Audio is taken care of through the built-in stereo speakers and combo headphone & microphone jack. Naturally, this Chromebook is running the Chrome Operating System, while Samsung have installed a 4 cell battery, which they claim is good for up to 6.5 hours of normal use and finally this machine measures 11.6 inch x 8.6 inch x 0.8 inch and it weighs in at just 3.3 pounds.
The black Chromebook is on sale in the US now and has a price tag of $349.99
