Rumours of Dell SmartPhones, Tablets and Tablet Phone

Rumours of Dell Rumours of Dell SmartPhones, Tablets and Tablet PhoneDon’t we just love some good rumours? Well reports are starting to emerge that Dell is planning to launch several high end Android based SmartPhones and a couple of tablet computers too. Here’s what’s doing the rounds.

Tech site Engadget apparently got hold of a presentation of Dell’s ‘Lightning’ Windows 7 phone which is due to be released later in the year.

This phone will feature a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, a 4.1 inch WVGA OLED screen, a 5 Megapixel camera, an 8GB MicroSD card, GPS, an accelerometer, compass and will support Flash technology. It will also have a keyboard that slides out from the bottom.

There are also reports that another android based Dell SmartPhone dubbed ‘Thunder’ is on the cards and this phone will carry an 8 Megapixel camera, photo editing capabilities, and will link in with social networking sites.

Then there’s the Dell ‘Flash’ SmartPhone which as the name suggests will also support Adobe’s Flash, will have a 5 megapixel camera and a 3.5 inch touchscreen.

A seven inch Dell ‘Looking Glass’ Android Computer Tablet is also on the horizon and so is the ‘Streak’ tablet.

The Looking Glass is rumoured to carry a 7-inch WVGA screen with 800 by 480 display resolution; 4GB RAM; 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth; a 1.3 megapixel camera and optional TV tuner as well as a multi memory card slot.

Now the streak sounds interesting as it will apparently operate as both a tablet computer and a SmartPhone.

I have this terrible image in my head of someone lifting a bulky ten inch tablet up to their ears to talk but never mind.

The Streak also known as the Mini 5 will have a larger screen size and the ability to make calls as well as take photos.

It will also switch from portrait to landscape simply by turning the gadget around. It will come with Wi-Fi, and quad band GSM for calling. This fancy tablet come phone is possibly due to be released as early as the summer.

There are also rumours that the Streak might have connections with Amazon, music and video stores as well as news and magazine sites.

Bring it on Dell.
