Remember not so long ago there was that dream job advertised for someone to spend six months on an exotic island in Australia with a laptop and other gadgets to blog and video their experiences? Well here’s another.
This time, it’s an Irish travel agency in association with the Irish Times that are offering the “ultimate job”. They are looking for couples who are willing to travel the world for six months and get paid to try out luxury wedding and honeymoon locations.
The website ‘runawaybideandgroom’ dot com has been inundated with hits and over a 1000 couples so far have put in an application for the dream job.
“It’s been sort of crazy” Rosemarie Meleady, managing director of the company told CNN.
I bet it has. The successful couple will find themselves drinking champagne and lapping up the luxury in some of the most beautiful resorts in the world and all they have to do is lug around a laptop and blog about their experiences a few times a week and write a piece for the Irish Times once a month, of course there’s going to be interest.
They will also get paid 20,000 euros and will start their unusual adventure sometime next month. Of course all travel and accommodation will be paid.
“The successful applicant will be required to research some of the world’s best wedding and honeymoon locations.
“Ireland is one the world’s best places to have a wedding and we want to tell the world about it!
“To apply you will need to make an 80 second webcast telling us why Ireland is a great destination wedding location and why you, as a couple, are perfect for the job” says the blurb on the website.
You don’t have to be Irish, or live in Ireland to get the job. Meleady told CNN that they’ve already had applications from Korea, China, Macedonia, Croatia, India and Saudi Arabia.
“They’re coming in about five every hour — I’m working around the clock” she said.
There has also been quite a bit of interest from couples in the US and apparently one couple from California are willing to cancel their existing wedding plans and get married in Ireland if they get the job.
If you have good communication and organizational skills, love travelling and enjoy luxury, and of course you need to be comfortable using a laptop and blogging then why not go for it.
You have to be quick if you want to apply though as your application has to be in by midnight on April 7th.
