Who buys refurbished stuff? While it can be one way to save some cash, it seems to me that you’re taking a risk.
However, risk or not, Apple is now offering refurbished iPhone’s from its online store.
If $499.00 USD and $599.00 USD were a tad too steep for you to consider an iPhone, now you can get a 4GB iPhone for $399.00 USD and an 8GB iPhone for $499.00 USD.
Each model is $100.00 USD off the original full price and offers Apple’s one-year warranty and is eligible for the AppleCare Protection Plan:
Enjoy peace of mind for two full years with the AppleCare Protection Plan for iPhone, which extends your repair coverage to two years from the original purchase date of your iPhone.
And there was much rejoicing… yay!
But what are you getting here? A returned item? An iPhone that wasn’t loved in its first home? A repaired item?
While refurbished may mean returned to factory specs, you always have to wonder.
What’s your take on refurbished geek technology toys?
I’d like to know as I’ve heard both success and horror stories from friends who’ve purchased refurbished products to save a buck.
Either way you look at refurbished products, Apple iPhone lovers who are on a budget have an opportunity to snag one for a more reasonable price.

You know, I’m not sure about Apple, but with Dell all refurbished products are sold with the exact same warranty as brand new items. Combine that with several hundred dollars off, and there’s really no sense in buying a new product… Except for your paranoia.
