Pegatron Begins Manufacturing The New Apple iPhone
It has been speculated a lot that Apple will announce its new iPhone in October. The time frame looks just about right considering that the previous iPhone was also announced in October last year. Much has been said and speculated about this smartphone. For the device to meet its October release time frame, production to begin now seems only logical. A Taiwanese trade publication reports that Pegatron has started manufacturing the new Apple iPhone.
The New iPhone is expected to be a significant upgrade over the previous one. Various design changes are rumored which include but are not limited to an overall thinner profile, a larger screen and a repositioned headphone jack. Apple is also rumored to be fitting a smaller 19 pin dock connector instead of the iconic 30 pin dock connector that has been included on all iOS devices since the original iPhone came out in 2007.
A couple of weeks back it was rumored that Apple has completed testing of all new iPhone prototypes, and is nearing mass production. There is never only just one model of an Apple device. The company creates a number of prototypes which then go through rigorous testing. After everything is up to Apple’s expectations, the final prototype enters mass production. Most of Apple’s production is done by Foxconn as well as Pegatron. It has been reported that Foxconn has started hiring in increased numbers, which gives off the impression that the manufacturer is gearing up for mass production of some sort.
This particular report comes from Taiwanese trade publication DigiTimes which cites industry based sources in Taiwan. Apple sources a lot of its component from Asian countries after which the final manufacturing takes place in China. It should be kept in mind though that DigiTimes has a major hit or miss track record when it comes to rumors about Apple products. Their rumors are usually not consistent with reality.
Whatever the case may be, Apple is expected to announce its latest iPhone in October later this year. The sixth generation iPhone has a lot of competition to beat as it will no doubt be compared against Samsung Galaxy S III. Apple surely has high hopes for this smartphone and so do millions of iPhone fans. Finer details such as pricing and availability will obviously be revealed when Apple makes the official announcements. I for one can not wait to see what Apple has done with its next generation iPhone.
