Finish mobile phone company Nokia has just unveiled their new C5 SmartPhone (S60 3rd edition) are obviously hoping to cash in on the increasingly popular trend of social networking.
They have also announced a new naming convention for their phones but first let’s look at the C5.
The Nokia C5 SmartPhone makes it easy to access Facebook status updates from the home screen and can show your top three friends for convenient calls and messages.
Users can keep in touch with whoever they want through Google Talk or Windows Live Messenger instant messaging or email through Ovi Mail although you can use other email providers.
The Nokia C5 SmartPhone has a 2.2 inch 320 x 240 pixel display and comes with a 2GB memory card in the box and is equipped with microSD card support so can be expanded up to 8GB.
It has a 3.2 megapixel camera, Ovi Maps with free walk and drive navigation and you will be able to share your location with your contacts on Facebook.
You also get built in stereo FM radio and a 3.5mm AV connector as well as Stereo IHF speaker.
Battery life is apparently great, with up to 12 hours talk time and it will stay on standby for a lengthy 26 days between charges.
It’s not a chunky brick either, the phone measures just over 12mm x 46mm x 112mm and although there’s nothing fancy about its appearance it still looks pretty cool.
For what this phone offers it’s a heck of a bargain at only 135 euros.
If you hadn’t noticed, the C series is a new addition for Nokia. They already have the E series for business use, the X series which focuses on music, and the N series which is the most advanced of their phones. The new C series will be heavily focused on social networking.
In the past it has been pretty confusing trying to distinguish between the different Nokia phones using the four digit format but Nokia say that’s changing and will use just one letter and one digit.
The letter will indicate what type of phone it is and the number will represent roughly the level of functionality the phone has, which is going to make it much easier for us to know what’s what.
The new Nokia C5 is expected to be available globally during the second quarter of this year and will come in a choice of either grey or white.
