Over the past couple of years we’ve seen the boundaries between so called SmartPhones and computers slowly blurring.

Of course that means we’ve seen computer makers looking at producing phones, such as the likes of Dell and Acer for example, and so why not phone companies looking to get into the computer market?
Yes, the whole mobile communication industry is buzzing with change and innovation and that inevitably means a never ending stream of gadgets and devices for us to choose from.
The latest phone company to want to grab a share of the Netbook market is the world’s largest mobile phone company, Nokia.
According to the Economic Times, the Chief Executive Officer of Nokia, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, told reporters in India on Wednesday that “the PC and the mobile will continue to come closer and merge”.
Kallasvuo also said that Nokia saw this as an opportunity and that the company were “looking at the Netbook market to see what kind of opportunity is there”.
It makes sense really; in fact if anything it’s kind of surprising they haven’t caught on to this before, particularly as they have already touched on the market with their N Series Tablets as well as other mobile internet devices and have been marketing their N97 SmartPhone as a mobile computer.
Of course none of these are quite like Netbooks, which will naturally appeal to a much wider audience.
In fact despite some of the biggies in the industry who dislike netbooks and actively campaign against them, they continue to appeal to the public at large who just love them.
It’s probably got something to do with the relatively low cost of these ultra portable devices, particularly in these difficult economic times.
Many people who just wouldn’t be able to afford a fully fledged laptop or desk top PC can have access to the Net and all that it offers for next to nothing these days in the form of a humble Netbook.
On the other hand even those who can afford high spec computers are snapping up netbooks as second or even third devices for carrying around with them to keep up with emails and such like.
It all means that companies have to fight for our attention these days, particular phone companies who are going to face increased competition from computer companies who get into the phone market.
I love it. Stiff competition means better products and better service so bring it on.
