There are a lot of new laptop coming out to the market these days and it is refreshing to see that not all of them are going after ultrabook status either! One of these recent launches is the N156J-500A/S from Tsukumo Japan, not a very popular brand outside of Japan we know, but none the less, this is a real interesting laptop with tons of features, specs and more importantly upgrades available. The trouble with this choice is that the low starting price of around $1,000 is slightly deceptive and could mean that consumers looking for a good solid laptop at a reasonable price might end up being disappointed! The answer here is to get a laptop that you need, rather than one that you want, it is the only way to keep costs down.
The N156J-500A/S comes with a 15.6 inch full HD LCD display in glare type, LED backlight with a 1920 x 1080 of pixel resolutions and there is a web camera built in that offers HD quality. It is going to be powered by the Intel Core i5-3210M processor with 2 cores, 3 MB L3 Cache and clock speed of 2.50 GHz, but this can be up to 3.10 GHz maximum when the turbo boost features is used. There is support from the Intel HM76 Express and the graphics are produced by the popular NVIDIA GeForce GT650M or the Intel HD 4000 graphics with NVIDIA Optimus technology.
There will be up to 16 GB of PC3-10600 DDR3 SODIMM available in various combinations and medium 500 GB of 3 corresponding serial ATAII hard disk drive (HDD) for storage. As normal there is the IEEE 802.11 b / g / n Wireless LAN, Bluetooth ® V4.0, RJ-45 port x1 (1000Base-T, 100Base-TX, 10BASE-T) for networking, while connectivity offers a couple of standard USB 2.0 ports, two fast connecting USB 3.0 ports and multi card reader supporting MMC, SD, SDHC, SDXC, MS, MS Pro & MS Pro HG. Finally it measures up at 380 mm (W) x 262 mm (D) x 35.5 mm to 36.6 mm (H) and has a finished weight of 2.8 kilos with the lithium-ion battery already installed that Tsukumo Japan say will be good for at least fours hours of use.
This laptop has already gone on sale in Japan where it has a starting price of around $1,000, but we have to suspect that the actual final price is going to be a lot higher than that.
