We first caught sight of the CR61 laptop by MSI (Micro Star International) back in July when the company announced the launch of the laptop, but then nothing was heard on this laptop until recently with the launch of two upgraded laptops the GE70 and GE60, the announcement that the CR61 will finally be its debut. After such a long wait, we will need to refresh our memories on exactly what the CR61 is going to be offering. One of the first things to notice is colour; it comes in normal grey/black or in a bright red! It is a 15.6 inch laptop, which comes with a choice of Intel processor and offers the HM76 chipset and HD graphics card.
The CR61 is an interesting combination of features and specs, it has a 15.6 inch LCD display with a glossy HD LED backlight screen with a 1366 x 768 of pixel resolutions and there is a built-in 1.3 mega pixel 720P HD web camera. It will be running on the Microsoft Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium operating system and powered by a choice of the latest 3rd Generation of Intel Core i3 or i5 Processors. There is support for the Intel HM76 express chipset and Intel HD Graphics cards. There is support for up to 32 GB of dual-channel DDR3-1600 MHz memory and a choice of either a 500 GB, 640 GB or 750 GB SATA 5400 rpm hard disk drive (HDD) for storage.
Other features are the handy 5 in 1 memory card reader; HDMI & D-Sub display output, two fast connecting USB 3.0 ports, one standard style USB 2.0 ports and stereo HD audio system. Networking offers a Gigabit Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth 4.0 with a 100 meter range and 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN. The CR61 laptop measures up at 383 mm (W) x 249.5 mm (D) x 37.6 mm (H) and weighs in about 2.4 kilos with the 6 cell battery pack installed. MSI have made the announcement at the CR61 will be launching soon, but the company have not issued any prices or details on availability either.
