Micro Star International or as we know it MSI have launched a new and exciting laptop aimed at the gamers market although it is not specifically exclusive to gamers. Unusually this laptop is powered by AMD offering the firms quad core processor and graphics card. This is a huge laptop; although it offers a 15.6 inch display, it has a thick body and weighs a lot too, so gamers will be pleased with the GX60. As ever this is a laptop with a plenty of choices to be made especially when it comes to storage solutions. We have no prices or availability yet for GX60, but expect this gamer’s machine to be turning up for sale online very soon.
The GX60 comes with a 15.6 inch screen offering a full HD anti-glare LCD panel in LED backlight with a 1920 x 1080 of pixel resolutions and there is a built in HD web camera 30fps@720p. Although it is running the Genuine Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium OS MSI recommends an upgrade to the Professional version! The GX60 is powered by the AMD Quad-Core A10-Series processor, with AMD Radeon HD 7970M Discrete Class Graphics and there is support for the AMD Eyefinity Multi-Display Technology Support.
This machine supports up to 16 GB of DDR3 1600 MHz memory and there is a wide range of storage choices from the; 128 GB Super RAID solid state drive (SSD) with a 750 GB SATA 7200 rpm hard disk drive (HDD) to 128 GB Super RAID and a 500 GB SATA 7200 rpm, 750 GB SATA 7200 rpm or finally there is a 500 GB SATA 7200 rpm. Networking comes from the 10/100/1000 Killer E2200 series Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth 4.0 and the 802.11 b/g/n Wireless LAN. Other features include the D-Sub (VGA) & HDMI display output, one standard type USB 2.0 port, three superfast USB 3.0 ports, Audio Boost, 2.1 ch Speakers and THX TruStudio Pro virtual surround sound system.
This is not a small machine measuring from 395 mm (W) x 267 mm (D) x 55 mm (H) and weighs in at a pretty heavy 3.5 kilos with a 9 cell Turbo Battery+ installed. This laptop is so new that MSI have not even had time to announce the prices or availability of the GX60.
