Monopoly Money Safe In The United States

On July 24, 2006 I posted about Parker Brothers removing the cash from the game and adding VISA Debit Cards to the classic board game Monopoly so players could pay for properties with debit cards.

I found out today that the change is taking place but only in the UK version. American versions of the game will still come stocked with the familiar multicolored bills. Yay.

For my friends in the UK, don’t worry, you can now download and print sheets of your own Monopoly money here.

Oh no - they can’t do that! It just won’t be the same any more.

Somehow when someone looses their temper like what they always seemed to do in our household, and the board and everything goes flying through the air, bits of plastic won’t be half as amusing as all the bright coloured notes flying about.

Still, I still have an old version that must be 25 years old now - they don’t make ‘em like they used to. Still going strong and it’s flown a few times ;-)

half the fun of playing Monopoly is pretending that that paper money you’re playing with is actually real ;)
We have a game here and it gets played once in a while when the feeling strikes.
