The UK based Company Mesh Computers, who used to sell PCs from the likes of Asus and MSI will from now on only be selling their new range of ‘Edge’ notebooks and laptops. Why?

“Asus has been a key partner for Mesh for almost two decades and will continue to supply us with top quality components,” said Tony Riccardi, Mesh’s sales and marketing director.
“However, where Asus chooses to compete against its own customers in the systems market, then we have to consider alternatives.”
So what exactly are Mesh offering with their Edge line-up?
The smallest of the bunch is the Edge 10, a 10 inch Notebook featuring Intel’s Atom processor, 1GB or 2GB RAM, 160GB drive and running on Windows XP selling for £299. A pretty bog standard Netbook really.
Next few in line are three 15.6 inch Notebooks, the Edge E640 for £599, and the Edge M840 for £699 and the Edge X960 for £999.
The E640 comes with Intel Core 2 Due 2.0 GHz processor, 2GB Memory, 250 GB Sata Hard Drive, and with the usual connectivity options. It runs on Windows Vista.
The M840 has a 2.53 GHz processor, 3GB DDR3 Memory and a 320GB Sata Hard Drive whereas the X960 is the cream of the 15.6 inch laptops featuring a 2.80GHz processor, 4GB DDR 3 Memory, 500GB Sata Hard Drive as well as Blu-Ray, ideal for gaming.
We also have two 17 inch laptops, the basic Edge E640CL for £649, and the M870CL for £849 which also features a Blu-ray Combo drive.
Finally we have the crème de la crème of the Edge range, which Mesh claim are the fastest laptops in the world.
The first is the 18.4 inch Edge G960 Xtreme for £1499 which is powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX260.
The second is the 18.4 inch Q900 Xtreme for £1999 which comes with Intel Core 2 Quad processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX280 and Blu-ray.
Additional information on these laptops is available on Mesh’s website.
Is their strategy working? Well yes it is according to Riccardi.
“As soon as we cut the old brands and pushed the Mesh Edge range into the market, we not only saw a significant jump in sales – but average selling prices have also increased by more than 30%”.
Go Mesh.
