Samsung have just announced their NF series of netbooks, with three different models on offer. The NF310, NF210, and NF110 are all 10.1 inch netbooks with similar designs, different processors, and unique feature sets – but do they have anything to offer an already saturated netbook market?
The Samsung NF310 is the top of the range model and comes with either an Intel Atom dual core N550 processor or a single core Atom N455. The NF210 has the same CPU choices, but comes with an attractive glossy lid. Their baby brother – the NF110 – comes with a slower Intel Atom N475 processor, and also has a cheaper plastic finish.
All three NF variations are nice looking netbooks, and their curvy chassis design seems to be their biggest stand-out feature and one of their biggest selling points. The design features a light clamshell case that comes in both black and ivory, and looks very curvy and stylish indeed.
The 10.1 inch screen on all models is a fairly standard affair, with the NF310 having a great resolution of 1366 x 768, and the NF210 and NF110 offering an average 1024 x 600. This is one of the biggest differences between these three netbooks, and with a 10.1 inch display that extra screen real estate really does make a difference.
All three netbooks offer up to 2GB or RAM and 250GB hard drives, along with all the standard ports that you would expect. One other point of difference is in terms of battery life, with the NF210 actually providing longer life than the NF310. This is probably due to the higher resolution on-board the NF310, which means battery life is limited to about 11 hours. In comparison, the NF210 can go for 14.5 hours, which may make it the favourite for road warriors who need all-day operation.
All three Samsung NF models are going on sale very soon in October, with the NF310 on sale for $399 and the NF210 for a slightly cheaper $379.
