McDonald’s, the world’s largest restaurant chain is working with Korean telco SK Telecom to field test their “Touch Order” system.

McDonald's SMS

How it works is customers sit down at tables, where they can plug a customized RFID device into their cell phones, they can then scan the menu with the phones, and push a cell phone button to order items.

When the food is ready, customers are notified with an SMS message.

I totally want to order a quarter pounder with cheese meal right now. Me so hungry :)

Oh come on! plug something into your cellphone? There are hundreds of different plugs and brands so its not that there is only one type of plug in. Also, this seems to be something that takes too much time to do.. I don’t think that you have to “browse” the menu at McDonald’s.. everybody knows the menu! So i have to sit down, place the order and then stand up to get it? Is this fast food? Once i sat down i don’t want to stand up again.. However, i really like that sometimes there are some girls that take you order when you are in line so they write down what you want and once you get to the front, you just hand in the paper with your order.. Now thats time saving!
