Netbook Looking for a gadget gift? Try a Netbook

Geeky gadgets and gizmos are always popular gift items during the holiday season but all too often the novelty quickly wears off and they’re left abandoned and useless in some cupboard or drawer never to see the light of day again.

The same fate is unlikely to befall a Netbook, however. These handy ultra portable devices are incredibly useful for just about anyone, young or old, male or female, tech savvy or not and as such would make an excellent gift.

Part of the appeal of Netbooks, apart from the fact that they are cheap and affordable for most people to buy, is that they are simple and easy to use.

Many people buy Netbooks as secondary devices to carry around with them for convenient access to the web, perhaps for social networking, email access, blogging, music, video, photos, news, and other content or for simple processing tasks instead of having to lug around a more cumbersome and more expensive laptop.

They’re small enough and light enough to carry around without much hassle, they come with Wi-Fi enabled, they don’t use up a lot of power so batteries last longer, and some of them look mighty cool too.

Busy professionals are using them, students are buying them, kids love them, and people taking their first tentative steps into the world of computers and the Internet aren’t likely to be bamboozled by Netbook technology. Yep, Netbooks are a great choice.

Netbooks hit the scene about two years ago now, (somehow seems much longer than that) and sales have been steadily rising ever since.

Asus was the first company to produce one of these cheap and cheerful mini laptops and if they had any doubt as to how successful they would be all that was removed when the first production all sold out within a matter of days.

After that of course just about every other computer maker rushed to deliver their version of the Netbook and people just kept on buying them.

According to figures from Context, sales of Netbooks increased by 37.7 percent across Europe last month and will be a popular item on shopping lists this holiday season.

“Netbooks are still in fashion and offer an affordable entry into portable computing, especially for buyers with tight budgets,” said Jeremy Davies, co-founder of Context.

A Netbook it is then.
