Those of you who are concerned about the environment will soon include this device into your favorites. We’re talking about Logitech K750 Wireless Solar Keyboard. One piece of technology that will definitely change the way you interact with your computer.
Design and construction
Logitech K750 solar keyboard is one of the thinnest keyboards made by Logitech, 8.5 mm. We can notice a nice contrast between the white back and the shiny plastic front. Although, possibly a mate nuance would have been equally pleasant. The keys are Chiclet-type, a premiere for Logitech, and they are well spaced. Those from central rows are slightly sunken in the middle to be touch comfortable; those from around Space and F1-F12 are slightly convex.
Placed symmetrically above the keys, we have two elongated solar panels with seven items each. We have a small button near NumLock that lets us know if the ambient light is powerful enough to charge the storage battery. Next to it, we can find the button to turn off/on the keyboard. For those who are not familiar with the latest wireless peripherals from Logitech, the PCconnection is done through the Unifying micro-adaptor.
It seems that Logitech made a wise step by implement Chiclet-type keys. We now have bigger space between them and a pleasant interaction with key’s surface. The fingers sit on them comfortably.
Logitech K750 is indeed friendly with the environment. It doesn’t need other batteries than its own. It’s pretty obvious that as long as there is solar light, the battery lifespan is permanently increased and lengthened. However, in the unlikely event that the solar panels will not be able to charge the battery, it could last up to 3 months, being “fed” by artificial lights. This period could be even bigger, knowing that that Logitech representatives mentioned that a table lamp could be enough to power the keyboard. Along with keyboard’s driver, you will install the Solar App which will offer details about the illumination level of the panels and the charging level of the battery.
Logitech K750 Wireless Solar Keyboard is an elegant and sophisticated peripheral device. For the first time, we can see the Chiclet-type keys on Logitech and we can be sure that it will not need additional batteries for its entire functioning. The price could be an issue for some users – 100+$.
