LG Mini LG announces new LG Mini SmartPhone

LG Electronics have announced details of their new phone, the LG GD880 otherwise known as the LG Mini, which is apparently “the smallest and slimmest 3.2-inch full touchscreen phone on the market today” according to a press release.

They say that great things come in small packages so is this true about the LG Mini?

The dinky phone has a 3.2 inch touch screen, with an aspect ration of 16:9 and the screen extends all the way to the edge of the phone and with no ugly buttons to spoil its appearance it’s a stylish looking phone and no matter what anyone says, we do care about what we’re seen with.

Is there a demand for a tiny phone? LG says there is. I suppose at a time when we are looking for smaller, thinner and lighter netbooks and laptops, why should we not want the same for our mobiles, provided of course they can still do everything we want them to do.

By the sound of things, the LG Mini is not a bad phone at all. We don’t have full specs yet but we’ve enough info to go on for now.

We want ultra mobility with our devices but without having the added burden of having to carry around any weight. The LG Mini will fit neatly inside your shirt or handbag for example so you’ll hardly know its there.

“We developed the LG Mini in response to specific requests from actual consumers who were unhappy with current full touchscreen phones that are too bulky, too clunky and too expensive,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics

“The easily pocketable LG Mini delivers great looks at a reasonable price, along with the trendy features that people want.”

Included in its tiny form are Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 5 megapixel camera with advanced face detection, as well as push email and easy access to social networking sites Facebook and Twitter.

We want faster browsing which is provided by the HSDPA connection at 7.2 Mbps and there’s also location based information available with A-GPS.

The ability to listen to music and watch videos is essential in a phone these days and the LG mini offers these in various file formats and there’s an FM radio too.

If you fancy an LG Mini as your next phone then it will be available in Europe from March onwards although we don’t know yet what it will cost from country to country.
