We have known for about a month now that the 10.1 inch IdeaPad S10-2 Netbook was on the agenda, ever since details about it were leaked on the Internet, so even though at last Lenovo have officially announced its release, no one is surprised.
The IdeaPad S10-2 Netbook is basically going to be an updated version of the IdeaPad S10 that was launched last year so let’s have a look at what the S10-2 has to offer us and if there are any major differences between this model and the previous IdeaPad.

The first thing you will probably notice is that the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-2 looks a lot more stylish and is thinner and lighter than the S10 which will go down well with those who have to carry them around all over the place.
Netbooks are meant to be portable so the lighter and thinner they are the easier they are to transport, and if they happen to look good too then even better. It comes in four different colours and these are white, black, grey and pink, all with a textured pattern so bound to be one that appeals.
Another difference is that the touchpad is larger and you have 3 USB 2.0 ports instead of 2. With the IdeaPad S10-2 you will also have the option of 3G and this time you will have a six cell battery giving up to 6 hours of use which isn’t bad.
Other than that the IdeaPad S10-2 is all much and such the same as the S10 and pretty standard these days as far as Netbooks go. There’s a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB RAM and 160GB hard drive and it runs on Windows XP.
For connectivity you have 802.11b/g Wi-Fi with the option of 3G of course although you have to pay a bit more for that. Other features include 89% keyboard, 1.3 Megapixel Camera, 4 in 1 card reader, Dolby headphone, Veriface and Lenovo Quick Start so you can boot your machine up in seconds. The S10-2 Netbook is also RohS and Mercury free and is energy star compliant.
If you want one of these then you’ll have to wait until this summer as they won’t be available until then. As for cost, well the IdeaPad S10-2 will set you back $349 for the basic configuration and $399 if you also want 3G.
