The computer manufacturer Lenovo has joined forces with Switchbox Labs after buying the start up company for an undisclosed sum.
Apparently, Switchbox have been developing new consumer technologies which it will continue with at Lenovo but no one is spilling the beans on what these new technologies might be.
Switchbox co founders Michael Sievert, Robert Dickinson, and Black Ramsdell have all joined Lenovo with Sievert being appointed as a Senior Vice President of Lenovo. He will now report directly to CEO William Amelio.
According to Amelio “Innovation is the lifeblood of our company, and despite the current challenges in the worldwide economy and PC industry, we are committed to investing in strategies and technologies that will help deliver exceptionally engineered products and services to our customers. Switchbox Labs is doing some interesting work, and we are pleased that Switchbox and Mike are joining Lenovo”.
In the past Lenovo has added new technologies to some of its own products and will no doubt make use of whatever it is that Switchbox are developing and integrate that into their future products.
In the meantime we all wait with bated breath to see what they come up with.
