Laptop Cover To reduce Those Scratches

If you plan on carrying your laptop everywhere (and let’s be honest, that’s why you bought a laptop in the first place), you can expect the laptop to receive its fair share of scratches. Even if you don’t really care about scratches yourself, laptops do lose resale value if the top gets all scratched up. This can be a problem if you ever hope to upgrade your laptop to something newer, more capable, or just more suited to your needs.

The flipside of that coin is that scratched up laptops almost never get stolen, so it’s really a glass half full/glass half empty kind of situation!

But anyways, if scratches really bug you, or if you hope to, eventually, trade your laptop in for something better, you might want to look into getting a laptop cover. Yeah, yeah, we know what you’re thinking “Why don’t I put plastic sheets on my furniture while I’m at it?!” But you know, you don’t need to put a sheet of clear plastic on top of your laptop to protect it from scratches.

If you use a laptop skin, your laptop cover can protect from scratches while also looking cool. Check out some sites that sell laptop skins and you’ll probably find a design you like, or, you can design your own and have one made custom for you. Laptop skins usually come in the form of scratch resistant stickers, and can usually be peeled off easily without leaving any sticky grime behind (though if it does, that can be removed with a toothbrush and a bit of dish soap). As an added bonus, having a big, personalized sticker on top of your laptop is something of a theft deterrent. Just ask a guitarist why he has stickers all over his case: Nobody wants to steal an easily identifiable piece of equipment.

You might also want to look into a laptop cover for your keyboard. If a desktop keyboard gets damaged, it’s no big deal, really. You can replace it for ten bucks with a trip to the local electronics store. But if a laptop keyboard gets damaged…

A keyboard cover is simply a piece of thin polyurethane that you place over the keyboard. It’s not as awkward as it sounds! The cover is completely flexible and to be honest, you probably won’t even notice it’s there. But it will protect from spills and the layer of dust that tends to collect between keys once you’ve had a keyboard for awhile.
