Kouziro launch the Frontier FRNK215B / D in Japan

The Japanese based computer maker Kouziro have added another new laptop to the Frontier range, it’s the FRNK215B / D model and it is worth taking a look at this laptop because it covers a wide consumer sector, from students to home users and that is a big market. The Frontier FRNK215B / D is a fourteen inch laptop with Intel Pentium processors, Intel Chipset and Graphics. However, looking at this from a consumer point of view, it is not a high end gaming machine or light weight ultra book, the Frontier FRNK215B / D is a good work horse.

The best way to find out just how good or bad the Frontier FRNK215B / D is will be taking a look at what’s under the hood, it has a reasonable sized 14 inch wide LCD screen with LED back light and a 1366 x 768 of pixel resolutions, there is no web camera though and that is disappointing. It will be running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit version with Service Pack 1 (SP1), it is powered by the Intel Pentium processor B970 with 2.30 GHz and 2 MB cache, supports the Mobile Intel HM75 Express chipset and the graphics comes fomr the Intel HD graphics card with up to 1696 MB video memory available. There is only 2 GB of DDR3 SDRAM SO-DIMM PC3-10600 and it has small 320 GB Serial-ATA hard disk drive (HDD) for storage purposes.

As expected, there are the usual communication tools available such as the 1000 BASE-T/100 BASE-TX/10 BASE-T Ethernet support and the IEEE 802.11 b / g / n wireless LAN. Connectivity offers the HDMI port out, LAN (RJ45), output mini D-Sub (15 pin), one fast connecting USB 3.0 port with the 9-pin power USB charging function and two standard USB 2.0 ports. This laptop measures 344 mm (W) x 29 mm to 36 mm (H) x 237 mm (D) and weighs in at around 2.1 kilos and that is with the lithium-ion battery installed that the manufacturer claims will provide the user with just 2.3 hours of power.

Kouziro have priced the Frontier FRNK215B / D at a very competitive $700, but that is in Japan should this machine become available elsewhere the price could be very different.
