Kouziro Frontier launches the FRANK 515
The Kouziro Frontier is brand well known in Japan, but maybe not so popular in other markets and that is a shame because the firms latest offering the FRANK 515 the base model which we are going to be looking at here has a fourteen inch screen, Intel processors, Chipset and Graphics. It is light and slim, but can only be classed as an ultrabook in certain more expensive configurations. Putting that to one side, the FRANK 515 is a smart looking machine, sure, it might be a bit plain from outside but under the exterior casing, there is a top of the range laptop trying to break through.
From the translated pages of the Kouziro Frontier web pages, we can see that this laptop offers the buyer a nice size 14 inch wide LCD Glossy display with LED backlight and a 1366 x 768 of pixel resolutions with built in web camera too. It is running on the Windows Home Premium 32 bit edition operating system with Service Pack 1 (SP1). There is a choice of Intel processor from the Pentium B970 with 2.30 GHz 2 MB (2 cores & 2 threads) up to the i7-3520M processor with 2.90 GHz 4 MB (2 cores & 4 threads). It will be supporting the Mobile Intel HM75 Express chipset and the graphics comes from the Intel HD graphics card.
Internal memory starts at 2 GB up to 8 GB of PC3-10600 (DDR3-1333) DDR3 SDRAM SODIMM, while storage comes in 320 GB, 500 GB, 750 GB and 1 TB of Serial ATA hard disk drive (HDD) and there is a 120 GB or 180 GB Serial ATA / MLC solid state drive (SSD).
The is a single superfast 3.0 USB port with 9-pin power USB charging function off, two standard 2.0 USB ports, HDMI output port and LAN port (RJ-45). While networking is supported by the 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-TX & 10BASE-T support LAN and the IEEE 802.11 b / g / n wireless LAN. The FRANK 515 measures up at 344 mm (W) x 29 mm to 36 mm (H) x 237 mm (W) and it weighs in at 2.1 kilos with the lithium-ion battery in place, which Kouziro Frontier say will offer the user just 2.3 hours of power.
The FRANK 515 base model is priced at a low $624, which is good when you compare with other similar laptops.
