For those with faith go ahead and buy but all it is is a refurbished clevo under the hood thats been watered down and price added to it. Ryan ur just plain retarded and know nothing about computers, with 512 and the other crap it boasts you’re already bottlenecking the processor, 2nd with the other brands out there sporting the 230 and more you have at LEAST 1TB to go with which gives things room to breathe, so before you go on saying that other people don’t know what they’re talking about maybe you should start with your facts and back them up a bit, as for me i go with the rest, if you need a cheap computer that does semi gaming then go for it, you’ll be displeased later or when u try to go above low or medium low settings. If you’re looking for good design, support, and upgradability as well as something worthwhile for years to come go with sager. TThe m17x should be classified as a 2006/2007 gaming laptop , its embarassing to even bring it up for 2009

I have this laptop as well… it sounds like those of you that are having problems either have bad products or are using it wrong, I don’t know, but mine works perfectly, I’ve never had a problem with it that I cannot fix easily which is to be expected with any PC, updates and that stuff just has to be done every now and then, the only thing I don’t like about it is Vista keeps pissing me off, but thats got nothing to do with Alienware, the laptop all the components, the Alienware software all of it is perfect, runs fantastic and I have not come across a game that makes this thing skip a beat, since its release there are laptops out there that are more powerful, but in my opinion after owning and using this thing, is that its great, runs great, looks great, build great, I took it apart and put more RAM in it, the inside has 2 fans with housings and tubes that channel air through the whole thing, I can leave it on for a week and it won’t get hot… hands down the best laptop for the price I’ve ever owned, don’t let a couple people who says its crap keep you from getting one, they are on sale right now and a great computer.

I agree with Daniel.

This gaming laptop sure is pretty, but that’s about as far as it goes. If you want value, you’re going to want to go with a Sager.

The NP8662 is in the same 15.4″ category. And for about the same price you get a GTX 260m graphics card (much more powerful than the 9m series), a faster Core 2 Duo, and 1066GHz DDR3 memory. All packaged with better support and a fantastic warranty.

Don’t get me wrong. Alienware makes nice products. The problem is that they’re over priced and the performance is hyped. For the same money, or usually less, you can find a much more powerful gaming laptop elsewhere.

I would actually classify the alienware m15X as the worst computer I’ve ever had the misfortune to own. It is supposed to be suitable for gaming but I can’t play Call of Duty four for more than a half an hour without my screen going black and taking a minute to load back up. If it even loads back up. Half the time if I go to play guild wars it gives me a blue screen. Even today i am looking for another repair to my computer as I’ve now recieved more service hang reports than believed possible, and can no longer turn my wireless on. It’s nice, when it works. But when it doesn’t work (which is frequently) you have to deal with customer support, who you might get lucky enough to understand, keyword might, and get to play the run around game. All in all, personal opinion, Do not buy this piece of shit unless you have the patience of a saint.

Well, I’m just throwing this in. I got the HP d7 entertainment laptop. I don’t know wether or not it beats the ones mentioned but it is very nice and more affordable. It also comes with the ATI RADEON graphics card and it’s pretty good for a lot of things, although, it is heavy

This is not the best computer on the market. I have to disagree with this article. Alienware may have their name out and be popular for gaming but they don’t have the best gaming laptops.

The Sager NP5796 which I have beats all the specs on this laptop by far and the technical support is far better than Alienwares since Dell bought alienware. 15.4 screen isn’t that great either.

I would never go with Alienware systems even if they’re made out to be the best. I would always go with Sager.

I just got this laptop a few days ago, and it is amazing! I was on a budget for a new gaming laptop, and this is sure worth the price. It runs like a dream, and the design is beautiful. The m15x is a must have for any hardcore gamer.
