Is This Dell’s New SmartPhone?

One thing you can be sure of with the Internet is that the minute anyone gets a whiff of anything worth mentioning it spreads round the web like wild fire.

For months and months now we’ve been hearing that Dell is considering moving into the SmartPhone market but so far Dell have given us nothing tangible to go on.

Many other computer companies have already moved into the SmartPhone market and we’re seeing phone companies start to produce Netbooks. In this respect Dell is lagging behind the others in making an appearance.

It would certainly make a lot of sense if they did produce a SmartPhone particularly as sales of these intelligent mobiles are predicted to rise in the coming months and years.

The question is, will Dell’s new phone run with a Windows or Android operating system? Android is already popular as a mobile phone operating system and Dell have indicated that they are keen to use Android in their new Netbooks so why not a phone?

However, there are many who believe that Dell might go for a Windows operating system simply because Dell and Microsoft have close ties with each other.

Ok so what’s the latest? We know that Dell will more than likely launch a handset before 2009 is out and that this phone will probably be released in China first so check this…

A blurry image of a SmartPhone with Dell’s logo clearly visible despite the fuzziness of the photo is currently doing the rounds on numerous techie blogs and forums and this phone appears to be running with Google’s Android operating system.

dellphone android china Is This Dell’s New SmartPhone?

The rumours are that the photo originated from the Chinese site Pdafans but a search of the site failed to reveal it now.

Is this Dell’s new phone that we have been eagerly anticipating?

If it is then it doesn’t look anything special as far as the design goes anyway and given the tough competition Dell will face in the SmartPhone market today it isn’t likely to attract a lot of attention after the initial wave of interest dies down unless there are some special features included.

The problem is, we have no way of knowing if the photo is genuine and that the phone is actually real until Dell comes out and says something.

In the meantime you can be sure that the speculation will continue.

People always say that Dell and Windows have a close relationship. Well I would have a close relationship with a prostitute if it would get me a discount. i am sure Dell is dying to get rid of Windows as it lowers there overhead by about 20% per computer.
