Clevo W880CU laptop Is the Clevo W880CU laptop the gadget to own?

Now we know that laptops are not a case of one size fits all, we each have our own individual likes and dislikes and reasons for using our laptops and that makes one heck of a difference when choosing one to suit.

The Clevo W889CU laptop from Taiwan based Clevo, a developer and manufacturer of notebook computers in the high tech and niche market shouldn’t disappoint anyone as it has something for everyone.

It could be described as the ultimate desktop replacement computer and of course unlike bulky desktops, it’s also mobile. Well mobile of sorts, but more about that later.

It comes with a decent 17.3 inch full HD screen and runs on an Intel Calpella platform and it’s fast.

If you’re a gamer then you’re not going to complain about the Nvidia (Fermi) GTX 480M Graphics chip in this machine. This is the first laptop featuring DirectX 11 capable graphics.

You can choose Windows Vista or Windows 7 as the operating system.

The usual communication options are available including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet.

There’s space for two drives, it has plenty of I/O ports, card readers options and slots to suit all sorts of needs.

It has a full size multi language isolated style keyboard with plenty of room between fingers so suitable for chubbier digits.

For security you can have the option of Kensington lock or finger print identification.

Finally, you get a 2 mega pixel video camera, built in microphone, speakers and a sub woofer, and a TV tuner function.

Laptop looks are important too, it doesn’t matter what anyone says, and this one has a nice elegant design.

Its dimensions are 412(W) x 279(D) x 39~56.8(H) mm and it weighs in at a pretty hefty 4kg with the removable Polymer smart Lithium-Ion battery pack 42.18WH.

Cost wise though this machine is going to hurt, but you probably knew that already. We’re talking about starting prices of around the $2,300 mark and that’s for the basics.

Here’s the down side, the battery life is only likely to be around 90 minutes so you won’t be able to stray too far from a power socket and as such this can hardly be called the ultimate mobile PC.

Still, if you’re a gamer, or looking for a laptop to replace your desktop then it’s definitely worth a look.
