I’ve seen fire and I’ve seen rain and now after watching video tape of the “Will It Blend?” guys dismantling an iPhone, I’ve now seen a good waste of $500.
After pulverizing everything from garden tools, to light bulbs, to hockey pucks, I sat slack-jawed that the kind people at the Blendtec company decided to grind up a newly available Apple iPhone.
That’s right… the hard to find, highly anticipated, much sought after iPhone that some philanthropist just donated $100,000 dollars for to help fight AIDS in Africa.
Host Tom Dickson asks: “Everybody knows that the iPhone can make phone calls, play movies & music, surf the Web and a lot more. But, Will It Blend?”
Of course it does, especially when Tom puts it on the “Smoothie” setting. The slow-motion section of the video is fascinating considering the roar of the blender sounds like an Apple fanboy screaming “Noooooo!” over the din of the blades.
Blendtec has been using good old-fashioned viral marketing (vis-a-vis YouTube) to show off the sheer power of its 20-amp commercial blenders.
The company has ripped apart the iPod before but that was well after the music player was a mainstream consumer device.
My favorite line: “iSmoke… Don’t breathe this.”
Simply put, the winner is Blendtec for entertaining and reminding us that even the so-called “Jesus Phone” was made from dust and will one day return to dust.
Especially if you put the blender on the “Smoothie” setting.

You’re a funny man, Sean.
Thanks Frits. I try to have a good sense of humor
Man thats funny stuff. Smoothie setting is perfect. I would ship it back to Apple and see if they would warranty it.
“I think I’ll put this on ebay” has to be the best line.
Will it blend? Put an iPhone into a blender! (No, the phone isn’t broken)…
Put a fully functional iPhone into a blender, will you dare? Well Tom Dickson from Blendtec decided he would do so after being dared from his viewers! Check out what happens from the YouTube video below:
