iPhone 5 Preorders Halted As They Sell Out In One Hour

POSTED BY Adnan IN Apple ON 14 Sep 2012

You preorder an iPhone just to save yourself the agony of standing in line for hours and hours outside an Apple store to get your hands on the latest and greatest iPhone. Apple started taking iPhone 5 preorders on Friday and little did most people know that the new iPhone will sell out preorder units in record time. The company has now stopped taking preorders because all of the stock reserved for preorders has now been sold out. Its interesting to note that preorder units were sold out in just one hour.

That’s not all though. Even if you were able to get in a preorder for iPhone 5 on Apple’s website, its possible that the shipping time for your particular device may have been delayed up to September 28. As soon as the initial stock ran out, shipping times started increasing. The iPhone 5 is going to be shipped to some very lucky customers on September 21, but for some that might not take place until September 28.

Now there’s two ways you can get your hands on an iPhone even if you did or did not get in a preorder. You can personally pick up an iPhone 5 from your nearest Apple Store on September 21 if you have preordered or wait for the day it will be shipped to your address. If you did not get in a preorder, you can still walk in to your nearest Apple Store on September 21 and hope to get your hands on the new Apple iPhone.

Some people like the experience of waiting outside an Apple Store for hours and hours with a huge crowd. For some its not that same. To each his own I guess. If you can not bear the thought of camping outside an Apple Store for quite a number of hours, then waiting is probably the best option for you. Wait until the initial madness of iPhone 5 dies out, then you can conveniently walk in an Apple Store, or even order online and the iPhone 5 will be delivered to your address in a short time.

The iPhone 5 costs $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB in either black or white. These prices are for carrier locked units with a two year contract. Official factory unlocked iPhone 5 units are also available but they come with a high price tag starting at $649 for 16GB, $749 for 32GB and $849 for 64GB. Lets see if this time around the new iPhone succeeds in settings a new sales record for Apple.
